I am originally from Lima, Peru and when I was 13 my whole family moved to Guadalajara, Mexico and lived there for almost 10 years. I studied my major in Computer Science at Monterrey Tech, one of the most prestigious universities in Mexico, graduating in December of 2001.
I decided to come to New York to pursue my graduate studies in Computer Science. In December of 2005 I completed my master's degree program in Computer Science at NYU (MSCS).
About me, I consider myself a responsible, friendly, religious and honest person, who is constantly trying to learn new things, both in my field of study and outside of it, but is aware of his limitations, shortcomings and weaknesses. My favorite quote is from Aristotle: "It is the mark of an educated man to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it".
As far as my future I have some goals that I would like to accomplish, like learning how to play a guitar (I have a Taylor 310), learning another language (french), traveling to other countries and be exposed to different ideas, customs and ways of living.
I enjoy running and swimming a few times per week.
Reading classic books (18th-20th century) is one of my interests. My favorite authors are Gabriel Garcia Marquez (100 years of solitude), Tolstoy (Levin is my favorite character), Steinbeck and Henry Rider Haggard (King Solomon's mines).
I enjoy listening to Silvio Rodriguez (Cuba), Alejandro Filio (Mexico), Fernando Delgadillo (Mexico), Franco de Vita (Venezuela), Edith Piaff(France) and Bob Dylan. My favorite songs are "Aunque no estas", "Ojala", "Ten miedo de mi", "Je ne regrette rien", "Free Bird" and "Mr. Tambourine Man".
My favorite piano music is from Chopin: "Nocture in C-sharp minor", "Sonata Number 3 in B Minor, and "Piano Nocturne in Ebm in e flat" ( link to song on msn music )
Chess if my favorite game and I enjoy playing it online on ICC. I particurarly enjoy blitz games. My ICC handle is "cristhian".
